Much of the Australian continent is tropical, and the Papuan islands have regular monsoon seasons. While the islands are largely rainforests, much of the country of Australia is a desert generally often identified as the Outback. Australia has been considerably affected by local weather change. Summers that have already got hovering temperatures have, in recent times, turn out to be so scorching and dry that wildfires threatened to destroy giant swathes of land. The Great Barrier Reef, one of many world’s ecological treasures, is perilously close to dying because of changes within the water.
