Even once progress returns, an engaged, loyal domestic customer base is essential for most destinations. Domestic visitors can construct a life-long connection with destinations, and price far much less to achieve. But, a month on, the “Island of the Gods” remains a shadow of its former self, with shuttered shops and restaurants dominating its once-bustling streets, and little to no signal of overseas visitors.
