Mythology is fun to read about and imagine, but when they're done right, movies based on mythology can be the pinnacle of enjoyment. While it's true that they frequently fail to be 100% accurate or true to canon, they almost always succeed in getting people who otherwise may never take an interested in the depths of antiquity, to take interest. For that, they serve a noble purpose.
A quick note: I'm counting films that draw from Mythology themes or use Mythological characters; they don't necessarily have to be a well-known story and could, in fact, be complete originals.
